2010 rules pdfs?
« on: September 06, 2012, 04:10:24 PM »
Is there somewhere I can download them?  I've found about 3 different versions online, none of them final, and given that they seem to be pretty comprehensive, I'd rather like to get them to finish out my pdf collection (I have most of armada, the parts posted on the GW website, but that's not the newest, right?    The compendium in the sticky leads me to the google documents cloud storage site, it seems to have been taken down.

Also, does anyone know about this:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/48609328/Necron-fleets-1-2-Final

The 4+ armor save for all ships is obviously incorrect, but otherwise, are the ships legit?

Finally, is there a place where every ship is detailed, without fighting through 7-8 different files with 3 ships each?

Thank you, sorry if I sound somewhat complaining, I would just like to know.

Odd,
since I have still full access to this:
http://tinyurl.com/23nul8q

(FAQ/Compendium 2010)

pm me, I have them all stored.

Hopefully they will be featured on specialist-arms as well.

The scribd document is part of spammalot's BFG:R files, and thus belongs with the rest of that rule set. If you use BFG:R, than go right ahead but grab the other documents as well.

I have to be logged into my google account to access anything. Did you make sure you were logged in?
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Ah.  Revised was never finished though, right?  What's the general opinion?  Good, bad, just make sure that your opponent agrees?  The necron one had all ships shield save at 4+ which seems hideously powerful, at a glance, as well as a planet killer nerf, so I'm just curious.

That did it.  I didn't have a google account.  Thank you sir!

So... with the 2010, revised (which is fanmade, correct?  Optional?)  and the blue book/armada (traitor fleets, xenos fleets, etc), that's the most recent revisions and updates, right?

BFG:R is fan made but incorporates ideas from the entire community, and is thus pretty well designed. I am a pretty new player myself, but overall most people use blue book/armada alongside 2010 faq, although some people use BFG:R only, but of course all players need to use BFG:R rules to balance them. Depending on your fleet, BFG:R could be advantageous to you...although some fleets are weaker, so it may be difficult to convince your opponent if he is running one of the. :D

hmmm... can you give me an quick overview on the fleets, as I don't know enough about them to get a sense of the changes, other than necrons, which are too different to be of help with other fleets.

Well I can help you somewhat...imperials are mostly the same, with very minor changes throughout their list except some minor point changes, with the exception of their battleships and grand cruisers which are much improved. They also have a few new ships: a really weak cruiser and an odd but pretty good battlecruiser stand out. Nova cannons can lock on to improve accuracy but are less damaging on indirect hits.

Chaos remains very much the same, with not much in the way of differences. Again, a few new ships but I am not familiar enough with chaos to really comment.

Tau are almost identical; exceptions include the custodian being a cruiser instead of a battleship and a point reduction in the emissary, among a few other changes.

Eldar use MMS rules very similar to 2010 faq, but are slightly more resilient and have more options. I cannot really comment on Dark Eldar or Craftworld Eldar; again, no real knowledge.

Necron all use 4+ saves, and are basically both better and more expensive.

Tyrannid are overall much better than 2010 (minus hive ship config spam :P) and have a much more interesting list, along with the really cool evolution lists.

Orks have a few new upgrade and ship options and are aggressively costed, so thus are considerably more effective.

Space Marines had not been done yet, although to be quite frank their list was pretty balanced already.

Rogue traders are both more interesting, and have the choice to field good ships with unique upgrades; still not fantastic, but a thousand times better than before. For instance you can have firestorm equivalents with 2 shields at 20 points a squadron!

When you hear of these changes, however, consider BFG:R rule changes too. There are too many to list casually, but off hand ordnance is generally less effective, squadroning is much more effective and terrain is somewhat less detrimental/more beneficial.
Just a dip in the pool, though; if you are interested I would recommend reading the core rules and lists yourself, however.

BFG:R

Ship stats & points are community voted and these are good (minus the changes I voted against ::) ).

Rulewise I dunno, it kept changing and changing in how it was named and written. Pick what you like I say.

Talos,
Eldar MMS from BFG:R has nothing to do with FAQ2010 or official rules.
Eldar MMS works entirely different (better!) Eldar MMS v1.9b available again soon.
THE change: Eldar move in the movement phase, not in the ordnance phase.

Cool, the google account log in worked

Sorry Horizon, didn't mean to offend ;) As for the rule differences, I profess ignorance: you once told me they were a almost identical transfer from MMS 1.9b, and having only tried the BFG:R ones I assumed (incorrectly) that they the same. :'(

Ow sorry, I thought you meant all BFG: R rules, not being Eldar specific.

There was a compiled and complete version of FAQ 2012 on Dark Reign but atm we're having more than a few problems with the site.
