Hi guys. I played necromunda since its inception for years and have recently reacquired all of the resources necessary to begin running a campaign. My question is what is the current state of necromunda? This site was a headache to find and there doesn't seem to be a great deal of activity here. Over on the GW site there's a loose collection of PDFs but the game just seems to be sitting there ignored and unloved. I have all of the resources currently available but I'm curious to know what the future holds. Is feedback still wanted/needed/appreciated? and if so where is the appropriate place for such? It seems to me Necromunda needs a single well organised well advertised hub that generates new quality content regularly. A place where everything is pulled together and the game pushed forward.

I know how popular this game is. You only need to look at eBay prices to see that people are still going nuts for it. So why does the only tinterweb activity surrounding it at the mo seem to revolve around searching out and hunting down old articles?

Hi. I can't speak for Necromunda specifically. However, this site as the 'semi-official' partner of the GW sales site. We have an agreement to host the older documents as long as they don't exist on the GW site. GW reps still have accounts here, although they rarely visit.

In addition, this site recently moved (about a week ago). This has meant that the various search engines will take a while to pick up the change. It also means that the site now has the capacity to expand in terms or space and resources, which will be happening in the near future.

This is very well put in terms of the goal of this site, to have a sub-section focussing on each of the SG games that does exactly that. I am always looking for suggestions and comments and feedback from the community and players to move forwards with this, so let me know if you have any thoughts.

Thanks for the reply CyberShadow. I suspect the difficulties you face have nothing to do with a lack of good ideas. I intend to become an active member of this community however and will help out wherever and whenever I can. My campaign kicked off on Sunday (an 8 player rat shoot, was bags of fun) so ill start giving feedback shortly.

There is a lot more Necromunda activity over on Yakromunda (not sure how much, been too committed to other things to get back around to Necro stuff), and they have a fan-made Necromunda Redux, which is massively better than Underhive.  Not that it was difficult.

I personally however stick to the Old Hardback.  I typically only add post-underhive things such as scenarios, Can You Hear That? (Nik Jakos' masterpiece) and the High Impact rule.

But the Necromunda fan version is rather good.  Activity is there mostly because Yakromunda has a few things over us.  I'd still like this forum to do well, and that's probably why Lex and the other guys are trying to have this forum to provide more support.

In the mean time I do have a thread pinned in this section with links to most of the Specialist Games publications from before and after Underhive.  As far as I'm aware, the stuff still works.  Yakromunda also has some stuff stored on it.

GW have left Specialist Games alone, but IMO that's the best thing that could have happened us.  Just look at what the likes of Matt Ward has done to the cores... yeah, I'm overjoyed the worst we got was Underhive.  Now the people who know what they're doing (i.e. the fans) have control over SG.  As they should have.

Ultimately whose in charge? Who has the authority to say right were commandeering a few of the worthless pages (an insult to ink and paper) that currently abound in WD. Who can say right we need a new model line. We need to make new terrain sets. We need to release campaign packs and scenario packs ( with mission specific models, buildings, tokens, counters, special characters etc.) BB had 22 star players (3rd ed) and most if not all had models.

So what (or who) is holding it back? Is it just not viable financially for company to support wholeheartedly? Are there internal conflicts? Differing visions? Cmon peeps take me to your leader haha.

Whilst I'm here can someone give me the lowdown on redemptionists (newer rules) I witnessed a game yesterday between two of the players in our campaign where 25 of em butchered an orc gang. 25 dudes with auto pistols and knives. Hunters scenario. To me they seem a liitle over powered, but it seems the intentention of the rules was to have them play exactly this way (angry mob) I understand its just one game and will continue to watch them closely to see if there actually is a problem or not.

I'm doing my research as quickly as possible but its always nice to steal a little time off someone else hehe, so what's the consensus?

Ok Cany believe how much time I've spent reading about necromunda lately and only just now come across the community edition. Looks like you guys have done some sterling work there. Massive respect for your efforts. Are you planning to continue with all the outlanders stuff?

It used to be Jervis had the "voice" to ask for new things for SG in general, though whether he got his way or not always depended.  Nowadays, SG is pretty much dead "officially" - a few models sold on the website, and a few resources.  GW aren't going to invest in SG any time soon - the suits would much rather you dropped all SG games and went and played 40K/WFB.

There are (or at least, were) plenty of people within GW that believe in the SG range, but ultimately they're not the people that make the decisions. :(
