Hello,
With all the buzz on BFG:R and a gaming company that refuses to upload a FAQ for one of their games the following post might be in order to shed some light into what is going on with Battlefleet Gothic.
The Official Rules:
Can be downloaded from the Games Workshop website. Here you find all PDF's originating from the v1.5 Rulebook edition and the original Armada supplemental.
(GW screwed up the order...)
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat480005a&categoryId=6700003a§ion=&aId=21500018a
The Official rules can be downloaded here:

Here you will find the PDF for:
- The Main Rulebook for Battlefleet Gothic
- The Expansion called Armada
- Doom of the Eldar: rules for the Craftworld Eldar
- Fabric of the Imperium: Rules for Rogue Traders
- Powers of Chaos: Rules for Nurgle
- Ships of Mars: rules for Adeptus Mechanicus
- Yriels Raiders: extra rules for Craftworld Eldar

The FAQ and Compendium 2010
The FAQ and Compendium 2010 have been made by the BFG rules committee, also known as the High Admirality. The good part is they made it in close relationship and with a lot of feedback from the community, the bad thing is is that Games Workshop does not want to upload all this work even despite the fact it provides rules for ships they are selling and they don't have rules for on the website (Rogue Traders) plus it makes their main 40k army finally a space worthy Space Marine fleet.
(And, yes, the FAQ may contain elements someone doesn't like, I don't use all from it either, but all in all it is fine FAQ to have and would be an improvement if GW placed it online).
The Files can be found at the following link:
http://tinyurl.com/23nul8q
(You need a Google Account to access this).
It contains the following PDF's:
- BFG FAQ 2010
- Battlefleet Bakka The dreaded fleet from long ago improved
- BFG Inquisition
- BFG Space Marines A big improvement compared to the rules in Armada
- BFG Adeptus Mechanicus a more fleshed out PDF then the Ships of Mars one
- BFG Rogue Traders Finally
- BFG Powers of Chaos Includes Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne and Slaanesh!
- BFG Craftworld Eldar Doom of the Eldar & Yriel's Raiders merged and improved
- BFG Ork Klanz
- BFG Tau Protection Fleet rules for the Tau Forgeworld models
Forgeworld Rules
Sometimes considered official, sometimes not. Almost always accepted. :)
Alas, Forgeworld has no rules online, the only ones available are the Imperial Armour 3: Taros Campaign rules for the Tau fleet:

Issue 75
Some other Imperial Armour books contain rules as well. If you see them online feel free to PM me the location.

The old magazine! For historical value.
___ BFG 2002 annual
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-aXA8fc5AQ8c2gtWkxFWWJWcjQ/edit?usp=sharing
The official pre-Armada rules. Enjoy this historical piece of Battlefleet Gothic
In general you can view it like this: the magazine led to the annual 2002; the annual led to Armada.
Unofficial (fanmade) Rules
Over the course of years the community has brought forth many great articles. Here I will include various of these articles, mostly the ones containing rules, ships and fleet lists. Tactica's will be for another place.
___Book of Nemesis
http://www.specialist-arms.com/fanatic/
issue 96
Made by the BFG group from Poland. A very large supplement in the honour of Armada. A lot of new ships, new scenarios and more.
Do not let the grammar and spelling mistakes withhold you, these happened due some very unfortunate incidents.
___Eldar MMS (v1.9b)
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-aXA8fc5AQ8T0pOTmliYmIxR0U/edit?usp=sharing
Started by Sigoroth and Horizon, maintained by the latter, several years ago. This document provides an alternative to the official Eldar rules system. Years of testing and development led the current version 1.9b which has been stable for a long time now.
___Battlefleet Gothic: Revised (BFG:R)
http://afterimagedan.blogspot.nl/2012/10/battlefleet-gothicrevised.html
A community project initiated by Plaxor but is currently under supervision from AfterimageDan.
Basically a democratic voted document. It changes various point costs & stats of vessels. Additionally altering fleet lists and adding some new elements like 2 hit escorts.
The project is still development at this very website.
___ BFG Ship Compendium

Hey,
Heavygear, with support of the French BFG community, supplied the following document:
Add-on Eldar (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-aXA8fc5AQ8R2RycWZvRXRwLTg/edit?usp=sharing)
A pdf which contains the official rules for the Craftworld Eldar (msm), updated with notes from FAQ2007 + FAQ2010, a campaign section and as a highlight (to me) legendary vessels.
Demiurg-Fraal-RakaGol v2.0 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-aXA8fc5AQ8ZHloX2xSVlRSMUE/edit?usp=sharing)
Three alien races for Battlefleet Gothic.
And as mentioned:
Dark Eldar (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-aXA8fc5AQ8OGxsWEF1OFlKclU4N2dxVHlWeWNYcDEyLVNB/edit?usp=sharing)
And then we have Pirates, Nomads and Raiders:

I have just uploaded to my Google Drive, all of the most recent rules and codices for BFG (FAQ 2010). In addition I have taken a screenshot of each Fleet List in each document, trimmed it up and made it a PDF to save you downloading the entire document trying to find things.

I shall look into it. :)
Post 1: I will make the links a little clearer.
Post 2: FAQ 2010 & Compendium 2010 link is still valid.
Post 3: all still valid links
@ Clever Ted:
you just need to start at post 1 in this thread. I described what each and everything is. From the official rules, the semi-official FAQ, the old rules/publications to the fan rules.
The BFG:R you mention is thus a fanmade product. So always check with your opponents.
-
OK thanks for that. Maybe it's not as complicated as I thought!
Is BFGR just fleet list changes for use with the rulebook + 2010 compendium, or does it have a rulebook version too? I'm quite happy to just carry on with the original rulebook + compendium but just thought I'd ask!
Thanks again. :)
-
Yes BFG-R is list changes. You'll be using rulebook + 2010 Compendium for rules. There was an older BFG-R that was a full rule and list re-write, but it was never finished. All the above is all you should need :)
-
What's the most current and accepted Necron rule set? I'm finding a variety of rules sets and I'm not sure which I'm suppose to use as some differ drastically.

Hey,
I would go with the ones in BFG armada ,(first post) and use the bits as mentioned in FAQ2010 (post two).

But the subjugation-class error is still there. :'(

And I believed this one was lost. The Dark Eldar MMS work in progress ruleset once made. Do no expect a thorough tested thing but it existed and because of the artwork made by MageLord this thing shall be shared with you all!
